Privacy and visitor analytics

This website is operated by Daniil Aizenshtat. For questions about your data, contact daniil.aizenshtat@gmail.com.

Optional analytics

If you choose “Allow analytics”, this site uses self-hosted Umami to understand which pages, articles, talks and examples are useful. Until you allow it, the analytics tracker is not loaded and no optional analytics events are sent. “No thanks” leaves the site fully usable.

Analytics may include page visits, referral domains and campaign labels, approximate location inferred from the connection, browser/device information, reading-depth and active-time milestones, video plays and viewing milestones, slide positions, gallery navigation, game starts/finishes and clicks on contact or external links. Video-position milestones can be reached by seeking; watch-time milestones are measured separately.

The tracker does not record sessions, capture keystrokes, read form contents, or send names, email addresses or phone numbers. Contact-link events record only the channel, not the address. Query parameters and URL fragments are removed except for restricted campaign labels. Unlisted slide-deck paths are replaced with a generic analytics label. External referrers are reduced to their domain.

Umami runs on the website’s existing hosting infrastructure. No analytics data is sent to advertising networks. It uses anonymous session measurements rather than an account identity. Network addresses are processed for measurement and approximate location; they are not intentionally included as analytics event properties. Analytics is separate from the hosting server’s operational access/security logs.

Your choice

The site stores your yes/no analytics preference in your browser so it can remember your choice. This is not an advertising identifier. You can change it at any time using “Analytics preferences” in the footer or the small preferences button on the slides and game. Withdrawal stops subsequent optional events; it does not retroactively remove aggregate reports. Browser Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals keep analytics off.

Reports describe consenting visitors, not a census of everyone who visits. Blocking software, browser settings and declined consent can reduce the counts. Approximate geography and anonymous visitor/session counts should not be treated as exact identities.

Contact and the game

Sending an email or choosing to share contact details through the handoff game is a separate action, not part of optional analytics. The game’s contact form explains its own purpose and permission. Its names, contact details, leaderboard nicknames and individual game records are not copied into Umami.

Analytics data is retained on the host until the site operator removes it; no automatic deletion period has been configured. Please contact me with any privacy or access/deletion request. Because analytics is not associated with your name or email, I may not be able to identify a particular anonymous visit.
